Stay Easy Bro

"Stay Easy Bro" featuring the full JHP Sextet in action.

{TrackStory}
The first riff idea for this one came from playing a cheap keyboard on the bed of my brother’s guest-room, in an apartment in Mexico City, Summer 2013, on a visit to experience the “latin gringo” lifestyle in one of the most massive, ridiculous cities in the world.
Coming up with a carefree groove such as this must have been my coping mechanism to a city with more people than I’d ever seen in my life...traffic jams I could've never imagined...the words ‘congestion’ and ‘smog’ taking on a WHOLE new level...yet experiencing a people generally more at ease and unhurried through life than their northern "uptight gringo" counterparts.
That being said, WHEREVER one goes, I highly recommend traveling abroad to anyone and everyone as it is one of the best ways to “get out of yourself” and learn about the human experience through different eyes, different modes of being…not to mention often doubling back as a mirror to one's own home country and seeing it in a new light, sans all filters, bias, and rose-colored glasses!
This apt title was indeed an ode and “Peace Out” of sorts to my big bro (who himself would play on this track circa a year later) as I returned to life in the States …another one of my southern-tinged joints with the whole JHP sextet…oh yeah and I got to play a Rhodes on it too ☺
